Signatures: A-B⁸, C⁴ (last leaf blank, wanting). Finis musices ex Orphei lyra et Saphus cythara manate atq[ue] per venerabilem d[omi]n[u]m Balthasser praspergiuz Merspurgen[ia] In nobili ac preclaro Basile crum studio proceltico: diligentia exactissima examinate. Rogatu tandem auditorum per prouidum virum Michaelem Furter Cive[m] Basilien[um] Impresse. Anno [Christo]lane salutis sup Millesimum quingentesimo primo. [Printer's mark]. Below the title is a large woodcut representing (at left) a music master and (at right) a young woman playing the harp; in the upper section of the cut is a scroll with the hexachord, ut re mi fa sol la. (The editions of 1504 and 1507 have the same title-page illustrations) At end, a folded leaf or table with "Scala greca" and "Scala latina." Gothic type. First edition? Gesner's Bibliotheca, 1574, p. 83, contains the following statement: "Balthassar Praspergius Merspurgensis scipedt de Musica chorali librum, regulis multis ac exemplis varijs refertum, & excusum in quarto, Basileae anno Domini 1500." Maittaire (citing Gesner), Panzer (citing Maittaire), and Hain (13327) list under Prasperg a "De musica chorali" Basileae, 1500. The notice in Gesner is probably an inexact description of the present edition.
